Moms Homemade Noodles

A delicious bowl of homemade chicken soup is comforting to the soul and Mom's homemade noodles are the perfect addition to any soup. Healthy homemade soup is a great option to make for those colder days when you want to warm up from the inside out. People also love to have a nice healthy homemade soup when they're sick and for a good reason too. Not only does the homemade soup taste amazing and it's light on the stomach, bone broth or vegetable broth also contains a lot of healthy nutrients that boost our immune systems, helping our bodies to fight off illness. What would a chicken vegetable soup recipe be without the noodles? You may not want to use packaged and processed store-bought noodles in your homemade soup, so you can even make your own noodles from scratch. You will be able to taste the difference of having these homemade noodles in your soup. Enjoy these noodles in any type of soup, or even as a pasta dish.

Noodles:
2 cups all purpose flour
1 teaspoon salt
1 egg
1/4 to 1/3 cup of milk

Directions

Noodles:
In mixing bowl combine flour, salt, egg and milk. Mix until you produce a slightly sticky ball of dough. Flour the counter and roll out dough to 1/8 inch thickness. You want them very thin because they thicken when cooked. Cut the noodles (you can use a pizza cutter or sharp knife) to desired size. Place the cut noodles on wax paper or parchment paper.
Cook the noodles on their own before adding them to the soup broth. Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Add the noodles and cook 3-4 minutes. Use a slotted spoon or spoon sieve to remove the noodles from the water. You can now transfer them into the soup broth.
*Note: By precooking the noodles, you do not get all of the starchy water in your soup .
