No matter how much of a neat freak you may be, sometimes you just can’t help getting a few food stains on your clothes. One of the worst stains to remove? Oil! Especially oil found in salad dressing stains because it’s mixed with other ingredients that can darken the stain, making it even more difficult to get rid of. Have you been trying to clean salad dressing off your clothes? We did some research and found some of the best cleaning tips over at the “How To Clean Stuff” blog. Need to clean something and can’t quite figure out how? This site’s a goldmine of useful information!
The first step to cleaning oil off your clothes is to take care of the spill as soon as you possibly can. Remove the article of clothing and get to work before the stain sets any further. Sometimes, of course, this isn’t possible! If you happen to be at a restaurant, food sweetener can sometimes serve as a quick cleaning substitute until you can make it home. Once you follow the instructions on this blog, however, you should definitely have success whether you get to the stain early or not.
A few other important points to remember are: if you possibly can, keep the clothing moist until you are able to remove the stain. If the clothing dries, quite often the stain will set into the fabric and removing it will be even more difficult. AND, even more importantly, do NOT put the clothing in the dryer or you may never be able to eradicate the stain.
Once your stain has been fully removed and your clothing’s as good as new again, you might want to consider wearing a bib the next time you eat salad. We certainly are!
