Cleaning! Does anyone really enjoy cleaning? I sure don’t! But it’s a necessity of life, to not only keep us sanitary, but to keep us sane as well. As the saying goes, “cleanliness is next to godliness” and a clean home really does promote clarity of mind. So, I’m always looking for easier ways to clean – ones that will save time, money, and most of all: effort. That’s why this great little article, “10 Surprising Things You Can Clean in the Dishwasher”, has helped me immensely in my day to day house cleaning chores.
First of all, did you know you can put your kitchen exhaust filter – you know, the one under the exhaust fan on your stove – in the dishwasher? I didn’t! This is one of the most annoying, time-consuming, sticky messes of a filter to clean by hand, but if you just plop it in your dishwasher and set and clean as normal, I think you will be most pleasantly surprised! Not only does it remove all of the grease, but it leaves the filter shining clean and therefore far more functional as well. A clean kitchen exhaust filter means a cleaner kitchen in the long run!
Secondly, you can also clean your hairbrushes and your toothbrushes in your dishwasher. Yeah! Just make sure you’ve removed all of the hair first, then toss them into the utensil basket, making sure they are firmly secured. Voila! Once the rinse cycle is done, you’ll have squeaky clean brushes, and that means squeaky clean hair and teeth too.
A great way to clean your pet’s dishes is to run them through the dishwasher as well! We often neglect these items but it’s important for your pet’s health to have clean dishes at all times, just as humans do. Just make sure these dishes are dishwasher safe first!
